Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care

Welcome to mySkills.ca’s Persuasive Approaches (PA) in Dementia Care online program. This program equips care providers with the skills and knowledge for person-centered dementia care. Participants will learn through interactive sessions to understand dementia, manage behaviors, and apply safe, respectful techniques for handling challenging situations. The course emphasizes the individuality of those with dementia, preparing participants for effective communication and care that promotes dignity and comfort.

The Persuasive Approaches (PA) in Dementia Care program, accessible online, features video tutorials with easy to understand modules, designed to be completed in 2-3 hours. The program covers:

• Introduction to dementia and person-centered care.
• Strategies for managing responsive behaviors through emotional, environmental, and interpersonal communication.
• Safe techniques for high-risk situations.
